After much hype surrounding the announcement that Gomez would become a face for the luxury brand, the first campaign image for the Fall 2017 season has arrived.
Selena Gomez has managed to maintain her spotlight and her good reputation far longer than is expected of most stars whose careers originated on Disney, so it's not a surprise she has recently stepped out as a fashion maven as well. Today, her first campaign as the face of Coach has been released, and it's a role seemingly perfect for the woman, who has always been on the brink of emerging trends.
With a fashion all-star team behind the campaign, the dream-like image of a young woman preparing for a freeing road trip comes to life. Shot by Steven Meisel, styled by Kyle Templer, and with creative direction done by Fabien Baron, there's a softness and optimism to the images that encapsulates the feeling of being on the verge of an ineffable lightness, a feeling that personifies both Gomez and the Coach brand. With make-up legend Pat McGrath and hairstylist Giudo Palau responsible for Selena's look, she is inarguably the Coach girl as she sits in the soft pink back of a 1976 Plymouth Fury, ready for what the future holds.

A lot of love is shared between Coach and Gomez, with Coach's Creative Director Stuart Vevers saying about the partnership, "Selena is a rebel and a romantic, a dreamer and a doer who boldly charts her own course. To me, she speaks to a generation; she connects." The admiration is mutual: "I couldn’t be more proud to be the face of Coach," Gomez says, "I’ve also loved working with Stuart, I admire his vision and his designs."
She has a lot of experience with his designs, too–in tandem with the Fall collection, Coach is launching three videos starring Gomez dedicated to the key bags of the season: the Rogue, the Coach Swagger and the Edie. All three videos, each created by Baron & Baron, showcase Gomez getting ready for a night out in New York–another time at which one always wonders what the near future will hold.
