Demna Gvasalia's latest runway show was truly a family affair.

Demna Gvasalia has seldom followed a conventional path when it comes to executing Balenciaga's runway shows. For the Spring 2018 season, the creative director opted to stage his menswear show among the leaves and crisp breeze of a luscious, green forest. In stark contrast with his previous collection's location, a corporate, grey carpeted set, the Bois de Boulogne park served as a beautiful canvas for the Paris-based designer to showcase his '90s inspired collection.

Setting location aside, the true highlight—aside from the norm-core, dad-inspired clothing—was the show's casting. Also known for his unusual model choices, Gvasalia chose to cast real-life families to walk down the runway, telling Dazed: “I thought it was so beautiful to see a young man with a child and it's so hopeful and so positive. There was this hopefulness actually that drove through the whole season, the kids represented that hope."

The collection itself is very much reminiscent of the '90s, featuring an array of dad-wear inspired patterned button ups, chords, and denim ensembles. The opening look featured a structured blazer paired with jeans while throughout the show, many polos, oversized trousers, and leather pants were sported by fathers and daughters alike.

The full mens Spring 2018 collection will be available for pre order on balenciaga.com for one week starting on Thursday, June 22. Check out stills from the show below as well as video of the show on Balenciaga's website.
